There used to be a building called Moskwa (eng. Moscow) here, which was the biggest cinema in Warsaw before the war. In 1950, the first lions were placed in front of the entrance. They were made of plaster and quickly had to be replaced. The stone sculptures were created by Józef Trenarowski.
The last movie was played here in 1996. Then the cinema was demolished are replaced with Europlex office building. Fortunately, the lions were preserved and are still guarding the entrance.
