Originally, the Methodist Church of Richmond, St. John's United Methodist Church was constructed in 1922, with additions in 1929, 1955, and 2000. It is home to the oldest continuing Methodist Congregation in Richmond.

Designed in 1922 by architect Carl N. Nelson, the red brick church with white terra cotta trim is most closely associated with the late Gothic Revival style. It is the only example of the style in the city of Richmond
