In March 2004, the forester of the Sleenerzand took the initiative to purchase a work of art, which should be placed as a monument in memory of Mrs Toos Goorhuis-Tjalsma near the Pieterpad in the Sleenerzand. Consultation with councilor Tanja Klip-Martin of the municipality of Coevorden inspires us to take further steps. In consultation with the Borders and Meetings Foundation, contact will be made with the Coevorden Tourism Platform. The Platform wholeheartedly embraces this initiative and also sees it as an important stimulus for promoting cultural tourism in the area.
The sculpture “Blick in den Stein” by Joachim Karbe is chosen as a monument by a composite selection committee.
