The is the former imperial residence of the Habsburg rulers of the Austrian Empire. The palace is a sprawling complex of buildings built beginning in 1279. The Neue Burg facing the Heldenplatz is the final building of this expansion under the order of Emperor Franz Joseph I. It provides entrance to the Ephesos Museum and Austrian National Library as well as the The Hofburg Congress Centr.
