The museum houses the insect and related arthropod collections of The Pennsylvania State University and serves a valuable educational function by making insect biodiversity accessible to the general public through displays for the casual visitor and educational visits for school groups and other interested organizations.

The Frost Museum was founded in 1969 and dedicated to former Penn State professor Stuart W. Frost.

The museum has an extensive collection of aphids, lice, dragonflies, and damselflies.

There are also living insects. You can pet a Madagascar hissing cockroach!

What is in the collection:
The research collection comprises approximately 1,000,000 specimens of arthropods, representing more than 15,000 species. Specimens are pinned, stored in cellophane envelopes, slide-mounted, or preserved in ethanol, depending on the taxon and stage.
