Voor de bevrijding van Woensdrecht en Hoogerheide is een zware veldslag nodig geweest. De slag ging de geschiedenisboeken in als de slag om Woensdrecht en was van grote betekenis voor de bevrijding van West-Brabant en Zuid-Beveland.
