David Crockett moved to West Tennessee soon after the Jackson Purchase created the area for settlement. David Crockett served in the state house and US Congress while residing in West Tennessee. After defeat for re-election, David Crockett left Tennessee for Texas. He fought in the Texas Rebellion and fell at the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
The statue stands on the Gibson County courthouse lawn in Trenton, Tennessee.
