These three figures are sitting in a traffic island in Stamford, CT. A woman has her easel propped up on an upside-down trash can on a bench. She's painting the town hall, which is visible blocks away. Her dog is lying on the sidewalk next to her. She also has an open briefcase of paints. Behind her is a man in a trench coat, looking down at her painting. His mouth is open in such a way that you can tell he's speaking. Because the name of the piece is "Uninvited Advice," you can infer what he's saying and what she thinks! The dog doesn't look too interested in his opinion either.
This is the work of Seward Johnson, whose statues of life-like people are realistic enough to make you think they're real people at first. This is also a sit-by-me statue, because there is plenty of room on the bench for visitor to sit and interact with the statue.
