Translated from the above noted text:

The Church of Saint-Pierre is a place of worship in the Catholic tradition built from 1826 to 1831. The building in stone masonry and plastered brick has a plan consisting of a rectangular nave with three vessels extended by a narrower choir terminated by a semicircular apse. It is topped with a roof with two straight slopes. Of neoclassical inspiration, its monumental facade has a central body crowned with a gable. This central body is flanked by two towers surmounted by domed bell towers. A one-and-a-half-storey rectangular sacristy is attached to the apse in the extension of the choir. It is connected to the side aisles by a covered way which follows the rounded shape of the apse. The church of Saint-Pierre is located on the edge of the public road, on open ground. It stands near the presbytery and a school, in an urban setting, in the city of Sorel-Tracy.

The church of Saint-Pierre is the first established on this site, but it succeeds several places of worship in the parish. The Sorel mission was erected in 1678. A chapel, located outside Fort Richelieu, was built in 1708. The mission was erected as a parish at the same time. A second place of worship was built in 1732, but was replaced in 1750. This third building was partially rebuilt in 1769 and enlarged around 1799. In 1822, the parishioners requested permission to build a new church. The site used being subject to flooding, another site was chosen, given in 1823. The initial plans were modified in 1824 in order to reduce costs; the transept is eliminated and the height of the walls is lowered by about three meters.
