The sign, "Trees with Knees" gives information Cypress Trees. Cypress trees are rare in Illinois. "No other tree has "knees" except bald cypress growing in wet conditions. Roughly conical in shape and up ot six fee tall, the knees are part of the root system and help support the tree in unstable trees."
Make sure to walk the boardwalk to get close to cypress trees and their "knees".
