Following the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia on July 2, 1776, Benjamin Franklin headed a committee to provide for the defense of Philadelphia, the capital of the revolution. He organized the final construction of Fort Mifflin.

iii. Sarah (Sally) Franklin was born in Philadelphia,
Philadelphia, PA 22 SEP 1743. Sarah died 5 OCT 1808 in Philadelphia,
Philadelphia, PA, at 65 years of age. She married Richard Bache in PA, 29 OCT
1767.
