[GER] Erstmalig erwähnt wird die Burg Anhalt, als sie um 1140 bei einer Fehde zwischen dem Erzbischof von Magdeburg und Markgraf Konrad von Meißen zerstört wurde. Der Askanier Albrecht I. von Brandenburg, besser bekannt als „Albrecht der Bär“, ließ die Burg in den Folgejahren wieder aufbauen. Durch den Neubau wurde die Burg eine der größten Befestigungsanlagen im gesamten Harz.
Heute sind von der Burg Anhalt nur noch Überreste des Bergfrieds und Teile der Burgkapelle zu besichtigen.
[ENG] Anhalt Castle was first mentioned when it was destroyed around 1140 during a feud between the Archbishop of Magdeburg and Margrave Konrad von Meißen. The Ascanian Albrecht I of Brandenburg, better known as "Albrecht the Bear", had the castle rebuilt in the years that followed. The new building made the castle one of the largest fortifications in the entire Harz region.
Today, only the remains of the keep and parts of the castle chapel can be seen from Anhalt Castle.
