The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame was established in 1964 in Halifax's World Trade and Convention Centre.

Among the collection are silver medals won by Team Canada hockey captain Fabian Joseph in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics and the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. Other medals on display are a Bronze Medal won by Swimmer Alex Haley at the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, the Gold Medal won by Colleen Jones at the 2004 Continental Cup of Curling (this is an annual event in which several rinks from North America compete as a single team against a similar contingent from Europe), several medals won by various contestants and teams in various Canada Summer Games, and the Championship Belt won by Canadian Lightweight Boxer Richard Howard in 1954.

The hall also possesses one of the three Avco Trophies made, awarded annually to the World Hockey Association champion. The WHA, an upstart competitor of the NHL, lasted from 1972 to 1979, unable lo live up to its ambition of replacing the NHL, which, BTW, is still with us.

There are several other displays of various types in the Hall of Fame, including one of "Syd the Kid". Any hockey fan worth his salt knows that Sydney Crosby is a native Bluenoser and the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame has what is undoubtedly the largest and most complete Sydney Crosby display in the world.
