Het kunstwerk Herr Heinrich is oorspronkelijk in 1982 ontworpen ter nagedachtenis aan de Duitse dichter van Joodse afkomst Christan Johann Heinrich Heine (Düsseldorf, 13 december 1797) - Parijs 17 februari 1856). In 1825 liet Heine zich Luthers dopen.

Innerlijk was Heine een tegenstrijdig mens, hij voelde zich zowel Duitser als wereldburger; dezelfde soort dubbele gevoelens had hij ook ten aanzien van het geloof en de romantiek. Beroemd is zijn uitspraak: ‘dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen’, die als een profetische vooruitblik geldt voor wat er later in het ‘Derde Rijk’ zou plaatsvinden.

Waldemar Otto vluchtte in 1945 met zijn ouders naar Duitsland en begon in 1948 met zijn studie beeldhouwen in Berlijn. Sinds 1976 woont en werkt hij in het kunstenaarsdorp Worpswede bij Bremen. Het werk van Otto is figuratief, het menselijk lichaam en de torso in het bijzonder staan centraal in zijn kunstwerken.

The artwork Herr Heinrich was originally designed in 1982 in memory of the German poet of Jewish descent Christan Johann Heinrich Heine (Düsseldorf, 13 December 1797 - Paris 17 February 1856). In 1825 Heine was baptized Luther.

Inwardly Heine was a contradictory person, he felt both a German and a citizen of the world; he had the same kind of mixed feelings about faith and romanticism. His statement is famous: 'dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen', which is regarded as a prophetic preview of what would later take place in the 'Third Reich'.

Waldemar Otto fled to Germany with his parents in 1945 and began studying sculpture in Berlin in 1948. Since 1976 he lives and works in the artists' village of Worpswede near Bremen. Otto's work is figurative, the human body and the torso in particular are central to his artworks.
