Grotte de Saint Antoine

Credits

Cave of Saint Anthony

Discover the limestone cliffs, the creeks and the sea caves, unique in Corsica.

The grotto of St. Antoine is reminiscent of the bicorne, the military headgear adopted by officers at the end of the 18th century and whose memory will remain forever linked to that of the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte
This marine cave which is immediately on the left when leaving the estuary and thus the port of Bonifacio, if it is of a notable interest considering its shape, can hold the attention by the multiple stalactites which scatter it and which illustrate well the long work of erosion undertaken by the fresh water, work which comes to be added to that carried out by the swell and the wind, always violent, in the strait of the Bouches de Bonifacio.

The statue of St. Anthony, in the shelter of a niche, watches over the underwater cave of Orca and the small beach.

The cave of St. Anthony is near the rudder of Corsica.
