800 Americans under Cols.
Allen, Lewis and Wells
Fought desperately against
3000 British and Allies
Under Gen. Proctor.
Forced to surrender, Tho'
Promised British protection,
the prisoners left unguarded
were attacked and killed
by the Indians.
