Near the farthest northeastern tip of Long Island, in the town of Orient, New York, at the vehicle loading area for the Cross Sound Ferry terminal at Orient Point stands a red plaque about Ben Franklin. Placed by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation in 2015, it reads:
