Living just outside, operating reactors on two U.S. Navy submarines, and having being a licensed reactor operator at Fermi 2 right next to Fermi 1, I have some perspective on the matter. The book is fanciful and over-exaggerated. With the Chernobyl mini-series receiving much deserved recognition, the discussion on the safety of nuclear power has been rekindled. There is a reason why everyone alive in the 1970's knows about Three Mile Island and no one knows about Fermi 1. One was a threat to the health and safety of the public and Fermi 1 was not. I encourage everyone to read it for the sensational journalism it is. I have spent many hours inside Fermi 1 and can tell you it is safe. Enjoy.
