The church was built in 1877 and served as a Methodist house of worship until 1925, when the congregation voted to realign with the newly formed United Church of Canada. Renamed King Street United, the church remained active until 2016, when dwindling congregations necessitated the amalgamation of three congregations into one.
Today, the building is home to the Masjid- Ul-Islam Mosque and Islamic Centre.
