"The ecotourism, technological, gastronomic and environmental experience takes place in the Sanabria Lake Natural Park, the largest glacial lake in the Iberian Peninsula, declared a Unesco Reserve since 2015. During the journey, the technicians of the Station perform the underwater interpretation of the glacier, with immersion of scientists-diversThose who can be asked in real time about the fauna, flora, geology and ethnographic-archaeological remains, through a radio communication system and cameras followed live from a glass deck for 80 passengers. It includes a wind-solar technology classroom, collection of plankton for interpretation in the on-board microscope and sonar and hydrophone equipment that allow the little ones to explore the search for aquatic dinosaurs. The experience ends with a local cider tasting on a jetty-viewpoint, which, like the ship, is totally safe and accessible for families, senior citizens and people with reduced mobility.
The departures are made throughout the year for groups arranged in advance, and also for individuals according to the calendar published on EUROPARQUES.COM. On-line tickets can be purchased on the same website and also directly at the Custa Llago car park jetty, 1 km before reaching Ribadelago. This privileged environment, and its proximity to Puebla de Sanabria, offers visitors magnificent accesses from the Madrid-Galicia highway, with excellent gastronomy and all kinds of accommodation along with an infinity of natural, monumental, ethnographic and landscape resources.
This first wind-solar catamaran in the world was sponsored in 2011 by Pierre-Ivés Cousteau under international standards of ecotourism and environmental education, which also involve the silent behavior of visitors, in line with its unique "5-ZERO ENERGY" certification : zero level of noise emissions, zero level of effluents, zero level of waste, zero level of waves-erosion and zero level of emission of polluting gases. It has a glazed deck for 80 passengers, outdoor terraces, 20 semitransparent solar panels, 4 wind generators, oceanographic and limnological laboratory, plankton sleeves, Secchi disk, Niskin bottle, giant screen microscope, adapted diving lift and robotic underwater cameras. . In addition to its double independent propulsion and self-inflating life rafts for the safety of the passenger, its anti-seasickness stabilizers and bow bulbs, guarantee a smooth navigation that does not even generate waves in the lake's water mirror.
The ecotourism activities of Europarques-EBI are the only ones in Castilla y León integrated into the European Ecotourism Network ECOLNET and the first in all of Spain to receive the Family Tourism Certification together with the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the City of Toledo and the Valley of Aran. Its hydrographic vessels have received the 1st National Tourism Award and the National Medal of Merit from Portugal for its ecotourism and research projects, among which is also the Miranda do Douro Environmental Cruise , which sails through international waters of Castilla y León , between the spectacular vertical cliffs of the Arribes del Duero Natural Park."
