Esp: "Monumento que recuerda la ba- talla de Rande de 1702. Durante la guerra de Suceslón Española, una escuadra anglo holandesa derrotó a la Flota de Indias pro- tegida por buques españoles y franceses. La flota finalizaba la travesía atlántica transportando un valioso cargamento de plata y ante el acoso inglés buscó refugio en la Ría de Vigo, donde logró descargar gran parte de las riquezas antes de que en la batalla fueran hundidos muchos de sus barcos. El monumento, diseñado con una gran sencilez y elegancia, incorpora como elemento destacado tres anclas de los buques hundidos."
Eng: "A monument commemorating the battle of Rande in 1702. Du-ring the War of Spanish Succe- sslon, an Anglo-Dutch squadron defeated the Indies Fleet, protected by Spanish and French warships. The fleet was finishing the Aflantic crossing with a valuable cargo of sliver and, un- der English harassment, took refuge in the Bay of Vigo where they managed to unioad most of their riches before many of their warships were sunk in batt- le . The monument, designed with great simplicity and elegance includes, as a prominent element, three anchors of the sunken warshlps."
