The modern bathhouse at Barrington Town Beach is entirely elevated on wood pylons. Restrooms, changing rooms, and a first aid station are arranged side-by-side in this elongated building set about six feet above a flat grassy area between Lorraine Street and the beach. It officially opened on June 23, 2012.
The four south-facing acres of the public beach overlook Narragansett Bay. Coarse sand and tiny pebbles line the flat shoreline. Lifeguards are on duty June through September. Amenities are limited to the bathhouse and a few picnic tables. Spectacular sunsets year round. Kayak and stand up paddle board storage racks for permit holding town residents is west of the main entrance. No dogs allowed during beach season. Parking passes are required for the lot -- residents' vehicles only during peak season.
