Lo forman un conjunto de rocas graníticas de grandes dimensiones, coronado por una de ellas que se mantiene por su base, también erosionada, a merced de la lluvia y el viento. Los historiadores relacionan el lugar con un asentamiento del periodo del Paleolítico, por los hallazgos de restos encontrados en sus cercanías, y creen que la Pena dos Namorados pudo haber sido considerado un monumento mágico-religioso por los primeros pobladores de estas tierras. Durante las labores de limpieza, rehabilitación y acondicionamiento llevadas a cabo en 1996 por la Escuela Taller Terras do Arenteiro aparecieron restos de una antigua ermita.
Es uno de los rincones más pintorescos de O Carballiño. Su configuración y situación, a orillas del río Arenteiro, con abundancia de cantos rodados, le confieren un cierto encanto romántico, generándose a lo largo de la historia un sin fin de leyendas relacionadas con tesoros y amoríos"

It is accessed by a path that follows the course of the Arenteiro at the end of the recreational area and river beach of the Fish Farm. It is formed by a group of large granite rocks, crowned by one of them that is maintained by its base, also eroded, at the mercy of rain and wind. Historians relate the place to a settlement from the Paleolithic period, due to the findings of remains found in its vicinity, and they believe that the Pena dos Namorados may have been considered a magical-religious monument by the first settlers of these lands. During the cleaning, rehabilitation and conditioning work carried out in 1996 by the Terras do Arenteiro Workshop School, remains of an old hermitage appeared.
