"The first world peace flame in the Netherlands was placed on April 18, 2002 next to the entrance gates of the Peace Palace. A special monument has been erected there with an ever-burning flame. On the monument is the text: "May all beings find peace". Since 2004, the monument has been surrounded by the "World Peace Path" along a rim of 196 stones and pebbles from 196 countries. Some of the stones are special: there is a chunk of stone from the Berlin Wall and a stone from Robben Island, the place where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for years.
At the beginning of the peace path that goes around the monument is a flat round stone with the text:
The World Peace Flame
In July 1999 seven flames from 5 continents were united to create the World Peace Flame.
The World Peace Pathway
196 Nations joined together in cooperation and solidarity to create the World Peace Pathway.
Opened April 2004
Please add your prayer for peace as you walk around.
