"Inaugurated in 1895, it replaced the ruined medieval Gothic-style church (14th century), equipped with a single nave, with pointed and semicircular arches, excellent capitals and burials, which stood on the site of the current Plaza de Abastos, known in this century as "El Pañolito".

The current church, designed by the architect Luis Bellido González, is in the neo-Gothic style, with a Latin cross plan and three naves; the central one opens forming two lateral chapels in the transept. It was built by the testamentary close friend of the parish priest Juan Trueba y Cano. The exterior highlights its towering tower with a square plan, at the foot, flanked by two lower sections and a very wide transept. It is covered with a six-angle vault in the groin apsey with ribs in the rest. The altarpiece is also neo-gothic, gilded and polychrome in 1954. Its gothic pulpit stands out, carved and covered with a voice; the tabernacle, made of gold and silver and the altarpiece of the Immaculate Conception, also featuring two worthy works by the painter Álvaro Delgado, Adoptive Son of Navia, representing Christ and the Holy Face."
