Western Asturias will have a cinema again in February. The works on the Fantasio de Navia, the last cinema to close its doors in the region 15 years ago, have concluded. It has a capacity for 400 people who will be able to enjoy national premieres again. The inauguration will be on February 14.

The 400 seats of the Fantasio de Navia are now ready to receive their spectators. It will be from February 14, the day of the official opening of what was the last cinema in western Asturias. It opened its doors in 1944.

It was six decades of screenings until its closure, 16 years ago. During all this time, the residents of the region had to go to Avilés or Ribadeo, in Galicia, to see a premiere. Neighbors are waiting for the reopening.

The Naviego city council has already chosen the company that will be in charge of managing the first screenings in a facility that will also be an auditorium. Many residents still remember the last films screened at the Fantasio.

The work, which has cost more than a million and a half euros, receives these days the last technical touches.
