The girl van Teteringen is one of the hundreds of anonymous dead in Dutch cemeteries. They are forgotten, their graves cleared. But not everywhere. Teteringen has decided not to clear the grave after action by the residents.

"On Christmas Day 1990, hikers in the woods near Teteringen make a gruesome discovery. The remains of a young girl, tortured and then murdered. To this day, the case remains unsolved. Thirty years later, a number of villagers make an ultimate attempt to discover her identity.
Loving tribute
"By remembering you, you will receive eternal life," reads a tombstone on the edge of the cemetery of the parish of Saint Willibrord. There are flowers on it, candles and a stone in the shape of a heart. They were put there by villagers. As they have been doing for almost thirty years. A loving tribute to the unknown young woman who is buried there and who became known as 'the girl from Teteringen'. For many residents 'their' girl from Teteringen."
