In het jaar 1908 is pastoor M. Moes op het idee gekomen om een school te laten bouwen in Achterveld. Op 12 september 1912 is er aanbesteding in “de Roskam” te Achterveld. De school (De St. Jozefschool) zou toen bestaan uit 3 lokalen met gang, privaten en bijkomende werken. De hoogste inschrijver was toen aannemer Kunst uit Amersfoort voor een bedrag van bijna 13.000 gulden. Nog diversen aannemers hadden ingeschreven, waaronder ook de Achterveldse combinatie Gebroeders Wijntjes en Aris Boersen. De gebroeders van Nimwegen deden ook mee en wilden voor 10.589 gulden bouwen, wat te hoog was. Uiteindelijk waren het de Gebr. Kroon uit Barneveld die de school bouwden voor 10.458 gulden. Dit alles onder toeziend oog van pastoor Rentinck. De school werd toen gebouwd aan de Dodeweg, wat nu de Jan van Arkelweg is.

In 1979 wilden een groep jongeren in Achterveld een eigen clubhuis, dat werd de Moespot. De school stond leeg en dat leek de gemeente wel iets voor deze jongeren. Het pand werd helemaal opgeknapt, maar wel zo dat het lokaal met de geschiedkundige waarde bleef bestaan. Er is veel door vrijwilligers gedaan. Na de opening werd er een beheer commissie opgericht die de zaken zouden regelen. De grootste huurder was toen de KPJ. In de loop der jaren is er wel het een en ander veranderd binnen de Moespot. Vanuit de Moespot werd in het verleden veel georganiseerd voor de jeugd, maar daarna is de Moespot steeds meer ruimtes gaan verhuren aan verenigingen e.d. Sinds jaren is muziekvereniging DWS de grootste huurder, ook worden ruimtes gebruikt door verenigingen als die Hinterfelder Musikanten, schilderclub “de vrije kwasten”, schilderclub Achterveld, Actief Achterveld, AMBC, carnavalsvereniging de Puupenkoppen, de Zonnebloem, muziekschool Leusden, Cesar therapie, Yoga, Truimph club NL. en diverse bandjes.
