Dit werk is onderdeel van een beeldenroute die de stad verbindt met de Hoge Veluwe en het Kröller-Muller Museum. Twaalf steenformaties van Adri Verhoeven markeren deze route. Het is een fietsroute die in het centrum van Ede start tot aan Otterlo gaat en weer terug.
De plek van deze beeldengroep ligt op de scheiding van bos en een heidevlakte. Lopend tussen de stenen kijk je uit over de hei. Uitzicht heet deze formatie. De ruwe stenen staan hoog rechtop als kleine bergtoppen. De gladde donkere steen wijkt in vorm en kleur af van de drie andere stenen. Deze gladde steen verbeeldt volgens Adri Verhoeven niets. Deze steen is zoals die is: zichzelf.
Adri Verhoeven was zijn hele leven lang al geboeid door stenen. Verhoeven heeft een groot respect voor de natuurlijke uitstraling en kracht van de steen. Hij bewerkt de steen zorgvuldig, stelt ze samen tot een geheel en zoekt een plek in het landschap uit waar de stenen passen.
De twaalf steenformaties langs de route bestaan uit oeroude bewerkte en onbewerkte stenen.

This work is part of a sculpture route that connects the city with the Hoge Veluwe and the Kröller-Muller Museum. Twelve stone formations by Adri Verhoeven mark this route. It is a cycling route that starts in the center of Ede to Otterlo and back.
The site of this group of sculptures is on the separation of forest and heathland. Walking between the stones you look out over the heath. View is called this formation. The rough stones stand tall like small mountain peaks. The smooth dark stone differs in shape and color from the three other stones. According to Adri Verhoeven, this smooth stone does not represent anything. This stone is what it is: itself.
Adri Verhoeven had been fascinated by stones all his life. Verhoeven has great respect for the natural appearance and strength of the stone. He carefully processes the stone, puts it together into a whole and looks for a place in the landscape where the stones fit.
The twelve rock formations along the route consist of ancient worked and unworked stones.
