Der Deckel zeigt das Stadtwappen von Rees.

In Rot ein silberner Schlüssel, dessen Bart nach rechts zeigt (Heraldik). Am 14.07.1228 verlieh der Erzbischof Heinrich von Müllenark Rees die Stadtrechte. Der Schlüssel, dessen Bart Kreuzform besitzt, weist auf den Apostel Petrus, Patron des Erzbistums Köln, hin.

In red a silver key with a beard pointing to the right (heraldry). On July 14th, 1228 Archbishop Heinrich von Müllenark granted Rees city rights. The key, whose beard is in the shape of a cross, points to the apostle Peter, patron of the Archdiocese of Cologne.
