Alsager railway station is located next to a level crossing on Sandbach Road South and is just a short walk from Alsager town centre.
It is located 6 miles east of Crewe on the Crewe to Derby Line, a Community Rail Line also known as the North Staffordshire line and connects the town of Alsager, with London Euston via Stoke and Crewe.
The mural is located on the side of a brick waiting shelter on Platform 1 at the station.

"Mural Celebrates Cheshire Railway Town30th May 2012
A community mural inspired by station volunteers will be unveiled at Alsager station on Wednesday 30 May.
The mural, which celebrates 164 years of rail services at this Cheshire town, is a project developed by North Staffordshire Community Rail Partnership, which works with station volunteers and East Midlands Trains to improve stations on the North Staffordshire Line (Crewe-Stoke-Derby route).
The intricate design features views of the station past and present, including the rolling stock of then and now. The mural also reflects the vibrancy of the town and its people, through views of The Mere, Milton Park and the busy market, all set against a countryside background illustrating the town’s rural location.
Painted by professional local artist Anthony Hammond, who has worked with the Partnership on a number of station art projects for the route including in 2011 a 120’ mural for Uttoxeter station, the colourful mural has served to transform the external plain brick wall of the waiting shelter on Platform 1.
Community Rail Partnership Officer Faye Lambert said: “The idea for the mural came from the great team of station volunteers at Alsager, all Alsager residents, who wanted to create a real welcome to the station for passengers in Jubilee and London 2012 Olympics year.
“They then put their heads together to come up with the concept of the design, which professional artist Anthony has now transformed for us into a real work of art. We all think it’s just brilliant and we hope that passengers will enjoy looking at the design each time they visit the station.”
Jonny Wiseman, Route Manager for East Midlands Trains, said: “This is a really great initiative which we are pleased to support. The mural makes a big difference to the station, and we hope all of our valuable station volunteers will enjoy seeing the mural officially unveiled.”
As well unveiling the Alsager community mural, the Partnership and volunteers at stations all along the North Staffordshire Line route to Derby are celebrating the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 by creating summer bedding displays in red, white and blue in station gardens and planters.
Alsager station was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway company on 9 October 1848. The station is managed by East Midlands Trains, who provide an hourly all-stations service to Crewe, Stoke-on-Trent and Derby. The station is also served by a semi-fast service to London Euston via Stafford. Around 75,000 passengers use the station each year (Office of Rail Regulation figures 2010/11)."
