Un cimetière militaire de la première guerre mondiale, il est très bien entretenu comme tous les autres dans la région. C'est important de découvrir ces lieux de mémoire. N'oublions jamais ces jeunes gens venir mourir chez nous pour notre liberté.
" La Chapelle-d'Armentieres est un village à 1,5 kilomètre à l'ouest d'Armentieres, une grande ville du nord de la France.
De la Marie à La Chapelle d'Armentieres, tournez à gauche sur la route principale et continuez au rond-point. Tournez à droite vers l'autoroute et après 1 kilomètre tournez-vous dans la cour et traversez l'arcade où se trouve le cimetière sur la gauche.
Ce cimetière a été soumis à de graves inondations persistantes. En tant que mesure temporaire pour faciliter l'accès, nous avons dû déposer du gravier, mais pendant les mois d'hiver et quand il pleut, la piste menant au cimetière est souvent inaccessible.
Nous nous excusons pour cette situation inacceptable que nous et les autorités françaises cherchons à résoudre.
Le village de La Chapelle-d'Armentieres était entre les mains britanniques d'octobre 1914 jusqu'à la chute d'Armentières le 10 avril 1918, et il a été repris au mois d'octobre suivant. Au cours de l'occupation britannique, il était très proche de la ligne de front, et les cimetières qu'il contient sont ceux fabriqués par des unités de combat et des Ambulances de campagne aux premiers jours de la guerre des tranchées.
Le cimetière de la ferme Desplanque se trouve derrière une ferme, maintenant reconstruite, qui a d'abord été utilisée comme vestiaire et plus tard comme poste d'observation. Il a été commencé en octobre 1914 par des unités de la 6ème division et utilisé jusqu'en juin 1916.
Il y a maintenant plus de 50, 1914-1918 victimes de guerre enterrées sur ce site. Parmi ceux-ci, un petit nombre n'est pas identifié.
Le cimetière couvre une superficie de 473 mètres carrés et est entouré d'un mur de décombres."
