The Heritage Park Wildlife Encounter Nature Trail is part of Phase IV of the park, opened in May of 2019. It is about a mile "and then some", all paved, and at intervals, walkers will encounter interpretive signs about the wildlife found in Flower Mound. Accompanying those signs are bronze sculptures of a particular animal, and be on the lookout for the footprints they've left across the trail. The trail goes mostly through wooded area, and there is a scenic overlook platform near the creek.

For the most part, the trail is a loop, splitting off to the northeast near the white tail deer, leading the hiker past the eastern cottontail rabbits and the armadillo. It will then branch off, with the path leading off to the west to the bison. One can then walk a little distance to the southwest to the American Quarter Horse, or resume the loop by heading east. The foxes, the wild turkey, the opossum, and the bobcat all await you before you see the deer again. The coyote can be found along the concrete trail that heads out towards some of the disc golf baskets on its own little trail. As to the beaver and the great blue heron, they're across the parking lot, and there is no discernable "correct route" to get there. Simply follow the concrete, watch the traffic, and be on the lookout for the bronze statues in the pond and the waterfall.

There is plenty of parking to be found, but the listed coordinates get you fairly close to the trailhead. There are plenty of other park amenities, including restrooms, and there are some picnic tables near the beaver and great blue heron for those wanting to take a break and enjoy the scenery.
