This pantry is located on the east side of N. Chowning, across from the UCO football stadium and sports field. It is next to the parking lot of Dayspring Church of Christ. The structure is primarily blue and yellow, supported by four posts, and artistically painted with colorful flowers on three sides. Each of three sides also has the painted text: Blessing Box, so no matter which side you approach from you know the structure offers free pantry items.
Above the double-wide door is a dove with the following text underneath:
Take what you need.
Leave what you can.
Above all be blessed.
Toma lo que necesites.
On the day of my visit, the pantry was stocked full of food! Some of the items include: several individual servings of Cocoa Puffs, boxes of very berry juice, several cans of soup (tomato/chicken noodle and vegetable), cans of pasta sauce, corn, cans of black beans, green beans (4), chili, peanut butter (2), stuffing mix (2), pancake mix, Chex cereal, malt-o-meal, italian dressing, macaroni, Honey Nut Cheerios, a bag of rice, tins of tuna, and some personal hygiene items (deoderant for men and women), shampoo, laundry detergent, toothpaste, shaving cream, and maxi pads.
The University of Central Oklahoma offers a program to help students with food and personal items, but there's paperwork, limited supplies, and if you don't qualify you're out of luck. This pantry next to the campus is a fantastic way to offer food to those students who may need it while going to school here (as well as members of the community).
