Het kasteel van Geldrop is een kasteel met een park dat zich midden in het centrum van Geldrop bevindt, in de Nederlandse provincie Noord-Brabant. Het is gelegen in het dal van de ter plekke druk meanderende Kleine Dommel.

Historische bronnen van de heerlijkheid Geldrop gaan terug tot 1340, maar ze is vermoedelijk ouder en mogelijk was het oorspronkelijk een leen dat uitgegeven was door de hertog van Gelre. Pas in 1403 wordt gesproken van een huys ende hoffgoet, moilne, etc., de gebruikelijke inventaris van een heerlijkheid. Dat is het eerste document waarin sprake is van een kasteel. In 1405 is sprake van 't huys tot Geldorp met de voirborcht, waarmee eveneens het kasteel wordt bedoeld.

Het kasteel bezat een donjon, die echter zeer moet hebben geleden tijdens de Gelderse Oorlogen, en documenten uit 1651 meldden dat het tijdens deze oorlogen met buspoyer is gesprongen. Dit betekende dat de donjon, hoewel nog overeind staande vanwege de dikke muren ervan, onbewoonbaar moet zijn geweest. Er werd verteld dat de donjon ooit door de Geldersen moet zijn gebouwd. Omstreeks 1616 heeft Amandus II van Horne daarom een nieuwe woning met trapgevels bij laten bouwen sodat dit nu fraye edelmanswoninghke is. Dit nieuwe huis vormde de grondslag van het huidige kasteel. Het is, samen met de oude donjon, afgebeeld op tekeningen uit 1732, 1825, en 1832. Deze donjon is later echter afgebroken, zodat deze op de eerst bekende foto, uit 1860, niet meer te zien is. Het kasteel had ook een kapel, waarin bisschop Michael Ophovius nog de Mis heeft opgedragen, toen hij er te gast was. Gedurende de verdere 17e en 18e eeuw is het kasteel erg verwaarloosd, maar Adriaan van Sprangh heeft het in 1770 weer gerestaureerd.

In 1974 kocht de toenmalige gemeente Geldrop het kasteel. Hieraan was de voorwaarde verbonden dat het kasteel en het landgoed ten nutte van de bevolking zouden komen en blijven. In 1996 werd het kasteel bezit van de Stichting Kasteel Geldrop, die voor verdere instandhouding zorg draagt. In het kasteel bevindt zich, naast de trouwzaal, een oudheidkamer en worden er regelmatig tentoonstellingen gehouden en uitvoeringen gegeven.

Geldrop Castle is a castle with a park that is located right in the center of Geldrop, in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the valley of the locally meandering Kleine Dommel.

Historical sources of the seigniory of Geldrop go back to 1340, but it is probably older and it may have originally been a fief issued by the Duke of Gelre. Only in 1403 is there a mention of a house and park, mill, etc., the usual inventory of a seigniory. That is the first document that mentions a castle. In 1405 there is mention of the house of Geldrop with front keep, which also means the castle.

The castle had a keep, which must, however, have suffered greatly during the Guelders Wars, and documents from 1651 report that it was busted during these wars. This meant that the keep, although still standing because of its thick walls, must have been uninhabitable. It was said that the keep must have been built by the Gelderse once. Around 1616, Amandus II van Horne therefore had a new house with stepped gables built, which is now a beautiful house for a nobleman. This new house formed the basis of the current castle. It is depicted, together with the old keep, in drawings from 1732, 1825, and 1832. However, this keep was later demolished, so that it can no longer be seen on the first known photo, from 1860. The castle also had a chapel, in which Bishop Michael Ophovius still celebrated Mass when he was a guest there. During the further 17th and 18th centuries the castle was very neglected, but Adriaan van Sprangh restored it again in 1770.

In 1974 the then municipality of Geldrop bought the castle. This was subject to the condition that the castle and the estate would come and remain for the benefit of the population. In 1996 the castle became the property of the Geldrop Castle Foundation, which is responsible for further conservation. In addition to the wedding hall, the castle houses an antiquity room and regularly hosts exhibitions and performances.
