"This large architectural complex beside Avilés Estuary is the only work by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in Spain. Music, film, theatre, dance, exhibitions, gastronomy and the word feature in a multidisciplinary cultural programme with a common denominator: excellence. The centre is made up of the following elements:
Auditorium
A democratic hall, with stalls but no boxes. It seats 980, all with the same visibility and identical acoustic conditions.
Besides its size, the stage is renowned for its functionality, as it also opens onto the plaza, providing entertainment to up to 10,000 people.
The lobby also serves as an exhibition hall.
The club, located in the basement, allows small performances and concerts to be held for a limited audience.
Scenic Balcony Tower
Standing 13 metres high, it can be accessed by lift or on foot via a spectacular staircase running around the base.
At the top, the 360º scenic balcony offers fantastic views of Avilés.
The balcony is divided into two areas: a gourmet signature restaurant, and the show kitchen area, open to the public so you can see the whole process.
Dome
A large open hall serving as museum space, but which but can accommodate other events.
Multi-purpose building
This houses the reception area, the Film Centre (with seating for 100 people with screenings of cycles, matinée and evening sessions and films in their original language), two multi-purpose rooms, a shop, a playroom and a coffee bar."
