The Horseshoe Curve was designed to allow trains to travel over the Allegheny Mountains. The visitor center allows railfans to watch trains from the inside of the curve.

The visitor center has a gift shop with train related items and a large selection of books. Rest facilities are on this level.
The museum displays show the history of the site and the people who worked for the railroad.
Access to the viewing area is by stairs or a funicular. The platform has picnic tables, a locomotive, a web-cam, and a wide view of any passing trains. Depending on the time of visit, railfans can see Amtrak or Norfolk Southern trains pass in either direction on three tracks.
The visitor center is open seasonally and will close for inclement weather. Please see the listed website for current hours and prices.
