"Our brand-new bikes. The ‘SMARTbike 2.0’ December 2020

During December we will be introducing a new model of bike to the fleet.

450 ‘SMARTbike 2.0’ bikes will be rolled out across our docking stations, replacing the current model of bike.

This new bike, will bring you a more user-friendly, flexible experience and will help us to keep our bikes safe.

There is a smart technology framelock integrated into the bike, which is powered by a solar panel. This framelock includes an integrated GPS, so any missing bikes can be easily located. The design of the bike will help to prevent vandalism and increase security with the addition of a smart lock at the back of the bike.

For you our customers, this smart technology framelock will mean you can park the bikes and lock and unlock using your smart phone instead of the current chain bike lock. This will offer you extra flexibility when popping to the shops, taking a leisurely outing on a bike or for any experience that you enjoy using a Belfast Bike!

Designed with the user in mind and built with high quality materials, the bikes will bring new upgraded features and a more enjoyable cycling experience.

These new smart bikes have been funded by the Department for Communities’ Covid-19 Recovery Revitalisation Programme.
