[FIN] Vartiovuoren tähtitorni (ruots. Åbo Akademis observatorium) on Turun keskustassa sijaitseva entinen observatorio. Turun akatemian käyttöön tarkoitetun tähtitornin suunnitteli Carl Ludvig Engel, ja se valmistui vuonna 1819. Tyyliltään rakennus edustaa uusklassista arkkitehtuuria. Tähtitorni sijaitsee Vartiovuorenmäellä, ja se on hyvin nähtävissä eri puolilta Turun keskustaa.
Varsinainen tähtitaivaan tarkkailu päättyi Vartiovuoren tähtitornissa jo vuonna 1836. Nykyisin rakennuksen omistaa Åbo Akademin säätiö (Stiftelsen för Åbo Akademi), jonka toimitiloiksi sisätilat on kunnostettu.
Vartiovuoren tähtitornin suunnitteli Carl Ludvig Engel, jolla ei väitetysti ollut suunnitteluvaiheessa kovin selkeää käsitystä observatorion toiminnasta. [EN] Vartiovuori Observatory (Swedish: Åbo Akademis observatorium) is a former observatory located in the center of Turku. The observatory for the use of the Turku Academy was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1819. The style of the building represents neoclassical architecture. The observatory is located on Vartiovuorenmäki and is well visible from all parts of Turku city center.
The actual observation of the starry sky ended in the Vartiovuori observatory as early as 1836. Today, the building is owned by the Åbo Akademi University Foundation (Stiftelsen för Åbo Akademi), whose premises have been renovated.
The Watchtower Observatory was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, who allegedly did not have a very clear idea of ??the observatory's activities at the design stage. For example, by the fact that Engel had drawn the round upper floor of the building full of windows from which the sky was to be observed. No large telescope had been drawn into the space at all. The building functioned as an observatory only for a relatively short time, because after the Turku fire, the observatory activities were moved to Helsinki next to the university. The first observer at the Academy of Turku was F.W.A. Argelander. It was not until 1824 that the first telescope arrived from Germany.
