The Nobel Prize in Literature 1928.

Sigrid Undset lived here in the house Bjerkebæk from 1919 to 1949. The residence and the garden has been restored to how it looked in 1930 and is now a museum.

Sigrid Undset is best known for her medieval novels as Kristin Lavransdatter (published 1920-1922), but otherwise her books are about the lives of poor city women and about the conflicts for women who have broken with the traditional gender roles.
Sigrid Unset started working as a secretary, and at the same time started writing short stories. In 1907 she published Mrs. Marta Oulie. After a few more releases, she was able to quit her job and be a full-time writer.
As only the third woman, she was awarded the Nobel Prize at just 46 years old.
