'Het uiterwaardengebied Meinerswijk vormt één van Europa’s grootste stadsuiterwaardenparken en is onderdeel van het programma ‘Ruimte voor de Rivier’. Het gebied ligt op een strategische locatie, niet ver van de splitsing van de Nederrijn en de IJssel, en wordt tegelijkertijd gebruikt voor recreatiemogelijkheden.
De hangbrug in Arnhem maakt onder onderdeel uit van het project “Ruimte voor de Rivier” en ligt aan de zuidkant van de Nederrijn in Meinerswijk. De brug dient als vervanging voor het trekpontje dat oorspronkelijk in het plan stond, daar deze de soms sterke stroming niet aan zou kunnen.'

'The Meinerswijk floodplain area is one of Europe's largest urban floodplain parks and is part of the 'Room for the River' programme. The area is strategically located, not far from the junction of the Nederrijn and the IJssel, and at the same time it is used for recreational opportunities.
The suspension bridge in Arnhem is part of the “Room for the River” project and is located on the south side of the Lower Rhine in Meinerswijk. The bridge serves as a replacement for the pull ferry that was originally in the plan, as it would not be able to handle the sometimes strong current.'
