Izak Dasberg was married to a non-Jewish German woman. On April 7, 1943, he was arrested by the Tiel police and taken to camp Westerbork. Thanks to the efforts of his wife, he was released on August 5, 1943. Together with four other Tiel men, however, he was arrested as a hostage on December 23, 1944. All five men were shot the next day in the courtyard of the Tiel prison as reprisal for an action by the resistance. They were buried that same day in Zoelen. Isaac is the only victim from the Jewish community of Tiel with an official grave.
