The La Mothe Family
'The Lamothe (formerly La Mothe) family descend from a French surgeon brought to the Isle of man from a captured privateer in the 1760’s. He married well and his descendants included lawyers, judges, doctors and a bishop. In 1844 one of his sons, Frederick John Dominique La Mothe, an advocate in Ramsey, bought a plot of ground adjoining Lezayre churchyard and on it built the mausoleum, which was complete by the time it was consecrated by the Bishop of Sodor and Man on 12th March 1845. Inscriptions on the external panels refer to La Mothe, his wife and other members of the family.' (visit link)

Frederick John Dominque Mothe the M.H.K and Advocate lived at The Old Cross in Ramsey which was later converted into a fine hotel and named 'The Old Swan'. (visit link)
