Locomotive Steam locomotive
[EN] The beautiful locomotive was manufactured in 1923 by the Société Montréal Locomotive Works and bears the serial number 64710. Alcan, which established itself in the region in the mid-1920s, would affiliate with Roberval-Saguenay in 1926 and acquire it. The latter bought it from Alcan in 1928 at a cost of $ 5,000. In 1953, Roberval-Saguenay gave the locomotive back to Alcan which was to use it at the Chute-du-Diable plant and in 1962, the Lar Machinerie company in Métabetchouan in turn used it. In March 1968, the former town of Port-Alfred inherited the old locomotive ceded by the Roberval-Saguenay Railway Company, which offered it a beauty treatment in 1988, granted on the occasion of the region's 150th anniversary. The large locomotive No. 15 was on display in front of the port facilities at Port-Alfred until it was sold to La Pulperie in 2011 and refurbished later this summer. Interpretive panels installed near the locomotive these days recount highlights of the history of locomotive No. 15 and that of the region's rail network.
