Sculpture La Petite Sirène
[FR] La sculpture a été faite pour le symposium de sculpture "Une route maritime sur terre" Ici elle représente La Petite sirène des Iles de la Madeleine, qui est aussi un livre de jeunesse. "La Petite Sirène, parfois appelé La Petite Ondine, est un conte de Hans Christian Andersen paru en 1837. La petite sirène vivait sous la mer auprès de son père, le roi de la mer, de sa grand-mère et de ses cinq sœurs. Lorsqu’une sirène atteignait l’âge de quinze ans, elle était autorisée à nager jusqu’à la surface pour contempler le monde extérieur. Lorsque la petite sirène atteignit enfin cet âge, elle se rendit à la surface de la mer où elle aperçut un navire à bord duquel se trouvait un beau prince de son âge. Une tempête se déclencha, le navire chavira et le prince tomba à l’eau. La petite sirène le sauva en le ramenant, inconscient, au rivage. Une jeune femme surgit à ce moment et la sirène s’éclipsa. Le prince, à son réveil, aperçut la jeune femme et pensa que cette dernière l’avait sauvé." etc...Wikipedia

[EN] The sculpture was made for the sculpture symposium "A Sea Route on Land". Here she represents The Little Mermaid of the Magdalen Islands, which is also a children's book. "The Little Mermaid, sometimes called The Little Ondine, is a tale by Hans Christian Andersen published in 1837. The little mermaid lived under the sea with her father, the king of the sea, her grandmother and her five sisters. When a mermaid reached the age of fifteen, she was allowed to swim to the surface to contemplate the outside world. When the little mermaid finally reached this age, she made it to the surface of the sea where she saw a ship aboard which was a handsome prince of her age. A storm broke, the ship capsized and the prince fell into the water. The little mermaid saved him by bringing him, unconscious, to the shore.
