"Athletic Field Named

The naming of the new stadium was voted at a meting of the school board of the Canadian Independent School District Saturday October 26.

The name is in memorial of Thomas L. Hoover, late son of Judge and Mrs. H. E. Hoover. Tom was an outstanding athlete of Canadian High School and the Canadian Baptist Academy. Later, he became an athlete of state and national fame as captain of the University of Texas Longhorns.

Work on the new athletic field, one of two WPA projects here, started Tuesday morning. P. N. Sawyer, superintendent of schools, says there will be a cement stadium on the east side of the field. It will be 300 feet long and ten rows of seats high. A track and other features, including electric lights will make it one of the finest in this section. Construction work on the Dry Creek road, another WPA project was started Tuesday afternoon."

Division Ball Played Here: Class 2A Division 1
