There has been a church on this site since Norman times and was re-consecrated in 1343.
It was built in Magnesiun Limestone in a perpendicular style and has a square tower.
The clock was installed in 1884 on the front face of the tower and replaced a sun dial which is still present on the wall some way below the clock.
The hours are marked in Roman numerals round the perimter of the clock face and are surrounded by a band with the individual minutes marked with dots. As is the case with many old clocks the number four is marked as IIII rather than IV as would be used today.
The hands and minutes are painted gold and the board upon which it mounted is black.
Above the clock face is a phrase attributed to St.Paul, "redeeming the time".
