[FR] Le Monument aux morts américains, connu également sous l'appellation officielle de "La Fontaine", est un mémorial situé dans la ville de Tours et commémorant l'aide apportée par les Services of Supply (SOS) des American Expeditionnary Forces aux troupes françaises durant la Première Guerre mondiale.

Son élaboration fut à l'initiative de l'American Battle Monuments Commission, présidée alors par le Général John Pershing. Inaugurée en 1937, elle comprend une fontaine en pierre calcaire surmontée d'un statue de bronze. L'ensemble atteint une hauteur de 10,50 m.

Le pilier de la fontaine est octogonal. Il est orné sur ses faces de sculptures en bas-relief des armoiries des huit villes qui firent office de base pour les SOS : Tours, le quartier général, Brest, Saint-Nazaire, Le Mans, Is-sur-Tille, Nevers, Neufchâteau et Bordeaux.

[EN] The American War Memorial, also known as "La Fontaine", is a memorial located in the city of Tours commemorating the assistance provided by the Services of Supply (SOS) of the American Expeditionary Forces to French troops during World War I.

Its construction was initiated by the American Battle Monuments Commission, chaired by General John Pershing. Inaugurated in 1937, it includes a limestone fountain topped by a bronze statue. The ensemble reaches a height of 10.50 m.

The pillar of the fountain is octagonal. It is decorated on its sides with bas-relief sculptures of the coats of arms of the eight cities that served as the base for the SOS: Tours, the headquarters, Brest, Saint-Nazaire, Le Mans, Is-sur-Tille, Nevers, Neufchâteau and Bordeaux.
