On the north and south sides of Nidaros Cathedral there are various Gargoyles. There are about 30 different gargoyles depicting dragons, monsters, distorted faces and animals.
Construction of the cathedral began around the year 1100. Over time, it has burned several times and been rebuilt in various styles. A major restoration of the cathedral began in 1869.
Mostly 90 men worked on the restoration work, of which 50 were stonemasons. Besides Gargoyles, there are many statues and other decorations on the cathedral.
