"The Gorinchem Canal Lock is a lock in the municipality of Gorinchem. The lock is not intended as a safety lock, but as an outlet lock for the Linge and was not primarily designed for shipping. As a result, in the past there were current velocities in the lock at large discharges of the Linge, which hindered shipping. The bridge crossing the lock is a vertical lift bridge"
